The Greater Good Bar

the greater good barOn this busy (and productive) Friday night, we were debating where to have a night cap. In a previous industrial/not too cool part of town, now there are craft breweries and hipster hangouts pop out in the past few years. Located on Geary road, you got a few selections of fun hangout spots. Summer would present a new set of selections - depends on whose patio has the best umbrella and retro Edison lights (obviously). But tonight we thought to have a pint at the Greater Good bar: http://www.thegreatergoodbar.com/

Concept: it's actually 2 different shops under one roof: the pizza shop and the bar. What's neat is the symbiotic relationship of both entities (under the roof of an old garage, or barn, or car shop). Well this works great, it's like the little birds that clean the alligator's teeth (not the best analogy?), pizza and beer don't just co-exist, they both thrive here.

This is how this works. Step 1: go to the bar and get your drink. Step 2: go to the pizza stand in the back and get your pizza. Step 3: Then you get over the social anxiety and wedge yourself on a table next to a stranger (or a group of strangers) and say hey i'm gonna sit here now new friend. Step 4: if you can't complete step 3 then to upstairs and balance your pizza on an old arcade game and hangout there.

The pizza are fantastic and the kale salads are really fresh. We tried their killer bee pizza in the past and it was sweet and salty! This time we only opted out for a beer: I like wheat beers - a pint of broken hipster hit the spot just right. Now if only that makes me feel less broken inside... haha no but really though.

wooden wall decorCute place overall: there are a few old arcade games on the 2nd floor where you can play old-school tetris or skeeball. With joy sticks, red button controls and all! Slightly nostalgic and may bring out the competitive side of you. Beers + pizza + arcade games = great time formula.

So give this place a try, maybe not on a Friday night cuz it was PACKED. And look at this nice wood arrangement on the wall here, the whole wall is like that! Is that cool enough for ya?
